Bird Bath Project
The Bird Bath Project, 2026 -
This bird bath is part of an ongoing community-based restoration project focused on care, shared responsibility, and urban ecology.
Rather than installing new objects, the Bird Bath Project centers repair, reuse, and maintenance, small acts of stewardship that support both wildlife and the people who encounter them.
Why Bird Baths
Access to clean water is one of the most important resources for birds in urban environments.
Unlike feeders, bird baths support a wide range of species and require minimal material input.
This project treats the bird bath as both a functional object and a site of collective care, something maintained not by a single owner, but by a community over time.
Care & Maintenance
If you are reading this, you are already part of caring for this bird bath.
Basic care guidelines:
Refresh water every 2–3 days
Rinse with water and a brush (no soap or chemicals)
In hot weather, check daily
Remove debris as needed
In cold weather, clear ice or allow the basin to rest
These small actions help keep the water safe for birds and extend the life of the object.
About the Project
The Bird Bath Project is an ongoing series of site-specific restorations and placements. Each bird bath is repaired using existing materials whenever possible and installed with the intention that its care is shared.
Locations vary, but each site includes a small plaque and this digital page, linking physical maintenance to accessible information rather than ownership or surveillance.
This Site
This page exists as a low-impact, informational layer. There is no data collection, no tracking, and no expectation of participation beyond care.
The project values visibility without extraction and access without obligation.
